Foróige's youth discos are some of the most exciting and vibrant events on the social calendar for young people in Mayo! These fun-filled evenings provide a safe and welcoming environment for teenagers to meet new friends, enjoy great music, and dance the night away. Whether it's a themed night or just a chance to unwind after a busy week, our youth discos are all about creating memorable experiences in a space that is supervised and supportive.

Hosted by local Foróige clubs, these discos are open to all young people, giving them a place to express themselves, have fun, and connect with others in a positive way. With top-notch DJs, lively atmospheres, and plenty of opportunities to socialize, the Mayo Foróige discos are always a hit with teens across the county.

While no event can ever be completely risk-free, Foróige youth/teen discos are organized with safety as a top priority. We take every measure possible to ensure that these events provide a secure and positive environment for young people. With experienced volunteers and staff on hand, you can trust that a Foróige disco is one of the safest social experiences for your child.

The Mayo Foróige Citizenship Events are an incredible showcase of the passion and dedication our young people bring to their communities. In May 2024, we hosted a successful event where Foróige clubs and projects from across Mayo came together to present the community action projects they’ve been working on throughout the year. The event gave them the opportunity to display their projects on boards, and speak to the crowd about the positive impact their efforts have had in their local areas.

From environmental initiatives to social campaigns, the range of projects highlighted the creativity and commitment of our young people in making a difference. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were infectious, and the event served as a reminder of the powerful role youth can play in shaping their communities.

This year’s event was a great success, and we are already looking forward to making it even bigger and better in the years to come. Our goal is to continue providing a platform for young people to share their stories, inspire others, and be recognized for the positive change they are driving in Mayo.

The Leadership for Life course is an exciting opportunity for young people aged 15 and over in Mayo to develop their leadership skills through a structured and engaging program. Organized by Foróige staff and volunteers, this course equips participants with the tools they need to become confident and effective leaders, both in their communities and in their personal lives.

Module One of the course kicks off in November and runs through to January, taking place on a weekday evening, one day per week. This module introduces participants to the fundamentals of leadership, setting a strong foundation for their journey ahead.

Module Two is a 3-day residential experience held at the Achill Outdoor Education Centre. This immersive module allows participants to deepen their understanding of leadership through hands-on activities, team-building exercises, and personal development workshops in a supportive and fun environment.

Finally, Module Three happens in the participant's own community. This module encourages young people to apply their new leadership skills to real-life community projects, making a positive impact on their local areas.
